America lost the "Pearl Harbor War"

In Skypeland, one can often gain insights into the cultures around the world. A young Arab came in to tell us some of what he was taught in his classes in school. It said in his schoolbooks that the US was an inferior country and the proof of this was that Japan had defeated the US in the "Pearl Harbor War".

This probably comes as a bit of a surprise to most people who have listened to hours of complaints about the United States bombing Japan and using atomic bombs against Japan at the end of World War II. It is quite amazing that somehow World War II, with tens of millions of deaths, has been reduced in Arab textbooks to a single battle with a few thousand deaths, which they call the Pearl Harbor War. And even more amazing that World War II, known to the Arabs as the Pearl Harbor War, is used as an example of the military inferiority of the US since it was defeated in this War.

Wow. No wonder some Arabs sound like complete morons when you talk to them about almost any subject.
