CD made one ridiculous claim after another, with no evidence to back up any of his assertions:
*CD said it was against the law in Israel to sell land to a Muslim.
When asked for references, CD was unable to provide any. He was unable to cite the name of this law or its reference number. However, it is well known that there are numerous laws in Muslim areas, particularly those controlled by the Palestinians, that make it a crime to sell law to Jews. Some of these laws carry the death penalty. [1]
* CD said that Muslim Israeli citizens can not speak against the state of Israel.
Actually there are both Muslim and Jewish members of the Israeli Knesset that speak out regularly against the existence of the state of Israel.
In addition, the US State department in 2005 issued a report stating that Israel had a generally good record on freedom of speech and of the press: "[t]he law provides for freedom of speech and of the press, and the government generally respected these rights in practice subject to restrictions concerning security issues. The law provides for freedom of assembly and association, and the government generally respected these rights in practice". [2]
Also, Freedom House and other nongovernmental organizations ranked Israel as having the greatest freedom of the press of any state in that region. [3] [4]
One exception was an infringement on the rights of Israeli Jews to speak out against their evictions from the settlements. [5]
Another example of an Israeli restriction of speech was the temporary banning of a 2003 pro-Palestinian film in Israel [6], a decision that was later overturned by the Israeli Supreme Court [7]. Interestingly, under oath during depositions, the film's producer admitted that the film was based on lies and fabricated material. [8]
*CD claimed that there no laws against debate or denial of any event similar to the Holocaust in Europe.
Of course such laws about Holocaust denial exist in many countries, and that is their business. [9] No such laws exist in the United States, however. CD wanted to attack us because of the European laws. I noted that as sovereign countries, they are allowed to pass whatever laws they wanted. This did not really sit well with him, since it did not help him with his anti-semitic agenda.
However, when the Armenian Genocide Denial Law in France was mentioned, CD wanted to ignore it, or pretend this law did not exist, or claim that no one paid attention to this law. This of course is blatant nonsense. [10] [11] [12] [13]
*CD claimed that there are no laws against defaming Christianity in any country.
Again, this is pure fabrication. Many such laws existed in the past, and a lot of them have been repealed, but such laws still exist in Germany, Italy and Greece, among many other countries. [14] A lot of this was high-lighted a few years ago during the Muslim riots about the Danish Cartoons, when the Muslims pointed out that numerous European countries had laws against defaming Christianity, but no laws against defaming Islam.
CD demanded that US Jews be required to give an oath of allegiance to the United States, instead of the reciting the current pledge of allegiance. CD seemed to think there was a big difference between an "oath" and a "pledge". CD also said he had never fought for his country, but he would have if he had been called up.
*CD said there are no bodies from the Holocaust, ignoring the massive volumes of photographic evidence, the years of studies, the testimony at war crimes trials and the accounts of survivors.
*CD claimed that his evidence that there were no gas chambers in the concentration camps were that Elie Weisel did not mention gas chambers in his book and that the Red Cross did not report about gas chambers. CD asked me if there was any traces of gas found in corpses from the Holocaust. I told him I did not know, but he asked me the same thing over and over and over; I answered every time, and he just refused to listen.
A little investigation shows that there is lots of evidence for the use of gas to kill people in the concentration camps. [14]
*CD claimed that there were only about 300,000 Jews killed in the Holocaust, not around six million.
I have seen a list of several academic studies, based on many years of scholarship, documenting the death toll of Jews in the Holocaust. All of them reached roughly the same conclusion. That is about 5-7 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. Some have stated that this is the best established number of its kind in historical studies, for this kind of event. [15] [16]
I tried to ask CD about his attitudes of other Holocaust-like events, like the Rwanda killings, or the Killing Fields in Cambodia, the Taiping Rebellion in China. CD tried to twist the discussion and refused to answer any questions since he said I was unfairly trying to "get into his psychological mind".
During this discussion, the infamous anti-American Brit Mucus was frantic to interrupt constantly with non sequiturs and nonsense. I insisted that he be silenced so people could have a discussion. However, Mucus was just in a frenzy to talk. So finally during a break, a moderator unmuted Mucus. And Mucus was very proud to make an announcement, "Did you know that S admitted in a room that he is actually a Zionist?" This really was not news to anyone, and several others in the room said they were also Zionists and freely admitted it. Mucus was sort of crestfallen when this did not cause the big outrage that he expected.
Again Mucus had revealed himself to be a complete idiot. According to others in the room, Mucus for years apparently has not understood what the word "zionism" means. And he demonstrated that he still has not managed to figure out what zionism is.
A Chinese person listening said he did not understand why people were arguing. We tried to explain it to him. It was pointed out that there was a rape of 50,000 women in Shanghai by the Japanese during World War II. Someone who lived through such an event might take offense at others who denied that it happened. I brought up the book called "The Rape of Nanking" that caused people to get upset, because some Japanese scholars claimed it was based on fabrications and poor scholarship. I said that I had talked to many Chinese about their behaviors in Tibet, during their wars with India and the USSR, and their attitudes towards Taiwan and North Korea, and that many Chinese got upset about these discussions.
I mentioned that there was an earthquake in the 1976 that killed several hundred thousand Chinese and that only limited information about this event was available to the outside world at the time. This Chinese person had not heard of this. I asked him what he would say if someone then claimed that this Chinese death toll was not due to an earthquake, but to failed communist agricultural policies. Would this Chinese person be upset because of this? The Chinese person immediately started verbal tap dancing and arguing that it was impossible for the Chinese government to make such a mistake and saying it was unfair. At this point, I knew I had proven my point; on sensitive topics, sometimes it is possible for people to disagree and get upset.
Most of this discussion was carefully monitored by the mystery man A. The mystery man A is a well-known Holocaust denier, and he certainly did not want to miss any of this conversation.
After this episode was finished, I described CD's comments as "nonsense". Another person in the room became incensed that I would call it nonsense, and said it was not nonsense, it was lies. I said he might not even know what the truth was in some cases, and I was attacked for not using the word "lies".
Well as far as I am concerned, it is just ridiculous.Addendum
After I made this blog post, the moderators said they did not want CD back in the discussion forum. However, when the moderators were idle, CD returned and said he had "scanned" this blog post and it upset him. He said he didn't care about what I wrote, but he sure ran back quickly to whine about what I wrote if he didn't care. Strange, isn't it?
CD was pretty annoyed and said all that we did was focus on Jewish topics. Y said he was the only person who seemed to bring up the Holocaust and the Jews; that he was obsessed. CD claimed that he never did this, and asked for a different topic to discuss. Y asked CD about Darfur, and within about 60 seconds, CD had brought the topic around to how horrible the Jews are. CD seemed completely unable to not bring any topic back to the Jews within a sentence or two.
When this was brought to CD's attention, he was told he had to attack the Jews because I was so unfair to have written this blog post about him. And if it annoys him, then that is just too bad I guess.
Addendum II
I have received messages from several channels that CD demands the "right" to make a comment. Of course, he is free to make a comment, but since this is my blog, I reserve the right to moderate comments.
Interestingly, CD's visit set off several Brits in a frenzy of Holocaust Denial. Mucus, Mrs B and Mr. Wee Wee Hands [17] all revealed their true natures. Wow, some other reason to "respect" them.
