One can hear all kinds of craziness in Skypeland, and sometimes a person who appears to be normal suddenly reveals they have a strikingly negative side. I observed a great example of that today, when a young Scot visited Skypeland. At first the conversation was pretty normal, and people talked pleasantly about cars. Then the Scot suddenly stated that his grandfather was a "coward Jew" for changing his name from Abraham Isaacs to something more Scottish to fit in. This caused the conversation to quickly spiral out of control.
This Scot is named T, and he was a bit drunk. T claimed that he is on government assistance because he developed heart disease at an early age from his alcoholism. T made one outrageous statement after another, stating that "only" 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust, so he could not understand what Jews were so upset about. T stated that it is much worse for the Arabs, since supposedly many more than 6 million had been killed (T did not talk about percentages, and only absolute numbers, but it is not clear that he could have understood that concept). T called Jews "yids" and stated that it was justified for Germany to kill 6 million Jews because the Jews were "strangling" the German economy.
D, a secular Jew, asked T about the events on 9/11 and on 7/7, asking if those deaths were due to the actions of Jews or Arabs. At this, the "incredibly incisive" PM leaped into action. PM repeated over and over and over that 9/11 was caused by Saudi Arabians, not Palestinians. PM did not seem to understand that he was completely confused and his comments were irrelevant and offtopic, and he repeated his statements over and over and over. Finally a moderator told PM to shut up. Thank goodness.
T was challenged to describe what Scotland had contributed to the world. Although Alexander Graham Bell and Andrew Carnegie were mentioned, it was pointed out that they did their work in the US, not Scotland. T claimed that the Scottish had invented television, but a little investigation shows that John Logie Baird of Scotland demonstrated a mechanical television system in 1926, but he has to share this honor with Paul Kpkow of Germany (1884), Charles Francis Jenkins of the US (1925), and Herbert ives of AT&T in the US (1928). Philo T. Farnsworth of Philadelphia was awarded a patent on the first all-electronic television system in 1927 [1].
Well in any case, T did not create a very good impression. He had started out so well, and then without any prompting, he had descended into an incredibly inflammatory tirade.
