One frequent visitor to Skypeland, H, was complaining bitterly today that all she heard was fights and nonsense and she did not ever hear any intellectual discussions in Skypeland. Therefore, we invited her to start one on any subject she liked, but H hemmed and hawed, and then refused to do so. H just continued to complain, and then logged off.
An hour or two later I stumbled across H speaking with R, another young lady in Skypeland. R was claiming that homosexuality was purely a choice and that no one was ever born homosexual; definitely not. I asked R if that was true, how could R explain the scientific studies, such as the birth order statistics (i.e., there is a monotonic relationship between birth order of sons and probability of homosexual self-identification) and the identical twin studies (i.e., identical twins of homosexuals are many times more likely to also be homosexual than than nonidentical twin brothers). R said she knew nothing about any scientific studies and did not want to know.
H, the lady who had been bitching about how angry she was that no one was intellectual enough for her, agreed, agreed and said she also had no interest in the science or the studies. I stated that there are data that need to be explained. H responded that she had no interest in the data and obbiously had no interest in any reasoning or knowledge or thinking. I was not even welcome to explain, since H and R were clearly extremely angry at me for even posing the question, and interrupted constantly to silence me in an obnoxious and rude fashion.
So I said I would leave, and H was quite pleased to get rid of me, since I was clearly creating a distraction from the mindless speculation. Yes, H is sure interested in intellectual conversation, I can tell. Quite impressive.
