One interesting experience and encounter I have had in Skypeland is with some white South African people. They claim that the US is one of the most evil countries on the face of the earth for joining the trade embargo against South Africa during the apartheid era (of course they do not blame any of the other 200+ countries who joined the embargo). It was not to end apartheid, according to them, but to allow American commercial companies to exploit South Africa. They bear very hard feelings against the US because apartheid is gone, and want to see the US destroyed for this reason and want to kill Americans that they meet. Interesting...Of course, I meet many who claim the US is evil for not intervening in international human rights situations, and others who claim the US is evil for intervening. You are damned if you do, and damned if you don't...There just is no way to satisfy all the people all the time. When I point out these kinds of contradictions to people, they are often taken aback. The same Skypeland residents will want the US to intervene in some situations and not in others.
Of course they all have their own opinions about what should be done and where and when, without realizing they are making hypocritical inconsistent and contradictory statements and that others would disagree with their own personal policy preferences. When confronted with this reality, sometimes I can tell that the light has just gone on, and that the person who had such a strong opinion a minute or two ago has experienced a revelation of sorts.
